Hello lovely people
It’s half term for children in the UK (and perhaps in some other countries) and great for the kids to take that much needed time to unwind from a very very busy school term. My son was so craving it lol.
I hope half term has been delightful so far in your home :). A chance to spend some quality time with the children in the midst of our ever so busy lives.
Anyway, I did promise on the Facebook group to share a simple half term recipe for the children. I was thinking of something easy that does not take long and bit exciting. So, we settled for Yorkshire pudding!. It’s so easy to make, not complicated and definitely one to get the children in the kitchen making with you (Well, that’s what I did with mine :D). I wanted to make the Yorkshire pudding more fun, colourful and with a bit of sweetness so that it can be eaten with strawberry jam (as they suggested) rather than for roast dinners.
The children sometimes like raisins so I chopped in a few small pieces in for that sweetness. You can chop in some of your child’s favourite dry fruit like dried bananas, apricot etc. The simple ingredients were….
Plain flour- 75g
Whole milk- 100ml
Olive oil- 1 table spoon
Pinch of salt
Equipment: Mixing bowl, Measuring cup, muffin tin, whisk
Coat muffin tins with olive oil and put to a side
Place flour in mixing bowl, add a pinch of salt
Whisk eggs in a separate plate
Using another plate, pour in the milk, then add the whisked eggs and mix properly. Add raisins (or desired fruit- optional)
Pour the egg and mixture in to the bowl of flour and mix- You want a liquid consistency
Separate the mixture into your coated muffin tins
Finally, place in a pre heated oven at 200ºC for about 15-20mins (without opening the oven door as the pudding needs the heat to be able to rise)
Great tasting, raisin infused Yorkshire pudding! Nice!
Please Note: The Yorkshire puddings collapse a bit once it is out of the oven
Off to think of some more adventures for the children! Enjoy the rest of half term and ….
Remember, “Keep Making It Happen”!
Blessings and Love
