Bonne année LOVELY PEOPLE! Yes, HAPPY new year! Its another year filled with hopes, dreams, aspirations and desires. My wish for you is that the year brings you peace, joy and happiness! What more can one want aye?
Ok, kicking off on a simple note with the great tasting Brioche Bread! A nice, rich yet light bread. It’s perfect with just about any cup of hot drink to keep warm in our current wintery weather! Lol. I love French baking and with Brioche, it’s almost impossible to go wrong. Why? Because it’s quite easy to make 🙂
I got this recipe from one of my baking classes last year. I adjusted the sugar quantity here, however as Brioche should be sweet, I would probably increase the sugar content by another 10g= 50g?
225g white strong flour
5g dried yeast
3 medium eggs (beaten)
1tsp vanilla extract
90g butter (melted at room temperature)
40g chocolate chips (alternatively plain or even raisins!)
5g milk for glazing- (should have used one beaten egg, but I did not have any left in the fridge *smiles*)
Mix the flour, yeast, salt and sugar together
Then, add the milk, vanilla extract and the 3 beaten eggs. Mix together with your hands for about 10mins ( and yes Its messy and sticky but trust me, the end result is a WOWZER!
On to the smooth dough, start adding the butter a bit at a time, making sure it is mixed properly in to the dough. Add chocolate chips.
Cover mixing bowl and leave for about 1hr 30mins
Place mixture on to a baking mould or tin (I think mine is a standard 500g tin). I grazed the top with milk 🙂
Bake loaf for about 20mins @ 200 °C/ Gas mark 6/ 400 °F fan assisted oven. Please ensure you monitor the temperature of your oven as ovens work differently
base of tin (you can get a baking tin from Amazon or ebay)
You like? It tasted really good. I took some to work and the feedback was pleasing *batting eyelids*
